Welcome to Mrs. Brightman's Page!
Hi! My name is Colleen Brightman and I am the English Language Learning (ELL) Teacher for the Norfolk Public Schools. I have a passion for teaching elementary school children and love coming to work every day! I hold certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics and English as a Second Language. Prior to becoming and ELL teacher, I have taught kindergarten and first grade.
In my spare time, I love spending time at home with my husband, three children and our dog, Skipper. I love the beach and travel. And, am always excited to get involved with organizations that benefit children.
We were a host family for the Fresh Air Fund for 10 years. We've thrown many birthdays parties at different homeless shelters throughout the state, through an organization called Birthday Wishes. With a non-profit, called Confikids, we've worked to provide funding for enrichment programs for children in need and supported them by riding in the Rodman Ride for Kids. My last love is for theater. I've directed plays for children and taught theater classes. While home with my children, I worked for the Orpheum Theater for several years and still volunteer there. In the summers, I still volunteer at the Broadway Bound program. If you are interested in learning more about any of these non-profit organizations, click on the picture below to link to their page.
Check out the pages that are linked above for student websites, ELL teacher pages and parent resources.

I look forward to hearing from you!
